2014 was a year of new songs and new artists. The songs you couldn’t get out of your head, and the songs that were looped all day. The top ten songs of 2k14 range from fast melodies, to slow melodies, and high pitches, to low pitches.
“All About That Bass” By Meghan Trainor : This song encouraged teen girls to stop worrying about what they look like; Meghan was bullied as a teen for her size.
“All of Me” By John Legend : This slow, and sad song pushed “Happy” to number two in the country, leaving Legends new song in number one.
“Blank Space” By Taylor Swift : This song was released with “Shake it Off” on the 1989 album with eleven other songs.
“Boom Clap” By Charli XCX : Boom Clap was in “The Fault In Our Stars” movie and album, and became famous from the movie. It was released on June 15, 2014.
“Centuries” By Fall Out Boy : “Centuries” brought back the tune from “Tom’s Diner” By Suzanne Vega, and made number one in UK Rock and Metal.
“Counting Stars” By Onerepublic : Counting Stars was originally released in 2013, but reached a peak in 2014. The song reached number one in many different countries, including the U.S.
“Fancy” By Iggy Azalea feat. Charli XCX : Iggy Azalea (an Australian rapper) recorded this song with Charli XCX and was released on February 17, 2014.
“Happy” By Pharrell Williams : This song was originally played in the Despicable Me 2 (movie), and became very famous afterwards. It was played on the radio all throughout the day, and was number one on the iTunes store for a while.
“Rude” By MAGIC! : This “Canadian reggae style” song by MAGIC! made number one in many countries, including Canada, where the band is based.
“Shake it Off” By Taylor Swift : This upbeat song was first on the US Billboard Hot 100. It was on Swift’s fifth album, “1989”.
“Stay With Me” By Sam Smith : “Stay With Me” was released on April 14, 2014, and ever since it has been a hit. It has been number one in many different countries, and was included in the album “In the Lonely Hour”.
