A Memorial to Prince

Legend. Icon. Star. All these words embodied Prince. Without a doubt, Prince changed the way people saw the world. From the first time, he stepped on stage, fashion and music were never the same.
Born in 1958, Prince Rogers Nelson grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Both of his parents were performers, in fact his father went by the same stage name Prince. He obviously wasn't as successful.
Prince's first and second albums gained him popularity, but it was his third album that struck a yearned for gold. Controversy struck the public, every song was called “scandalous” and “racey.” That’s exactly what people wanted in the 80’s and 90’s.
Yet, his most famous album by far is Purple Rain. Songs like When Doves Cry and Let's Go Crazy were so popular that they actually landed Prince his own movie. No one was surprised when they called it Purple Rain. It started Prince and his band The Revolution, the film showcased their experiences that lead them to where they were. The movie won an Academy Award for Best Original Score.
Finally, someone could not write a memorial about Prince without talking about his fiery fashion and his infamous stage presence. Most would agree that Prince's signature style was a ruffled blouse with a tailored jacket and pants (usually those where sparkly), but that fearless style has influenced some of the most well-known stylists in the world. His daring garments inspired designers like Gucci to put tight-fit suits on the runway.
One of the many reasons the audience loved Prince is due to his energetic performances. He had a flamboyant energy that made the crowd move in excitement. Some might even say he was sassy. Many of his forever fans say that his Super Bowl Halftime show in 2007 was the best one.
Prince was not only an amazing singer, songwriter, and actor, he was an advocate for animals too. He changed people's lives and to him, that was the most important thing. He will live on forever in the hearts of every fan. R.I.P Prince.
