Cry About It

The Choice Movie Review

"The Choice" a new romantic movie based on another novel by Nicholas Sparks came out recently. With it being so cold outside in Park City, it’s a good time to go to the movies. Nicholas Sparks has had several of his novels made into movies, including The Notebook: a classic romance movie. The Choice was rated PG-13 and was almost two hours long. The two main actors Benjamin Walker (as Travis) and Teresa Palmer (as Gabby) were definitely couple goals with their adorable matching accents. The movie will most likely make you cry, as do most of Nicholas Sparks’ movies. If you plan on seeing it, it’s a fun movie to see with close friends (or anyone you are comfortable sobbing in front of with). The movie is packed full of romance, including a romance between their pet dogs. Halfway through the movie, we began to fear that the ending would be a disappointment. In fact, I wanted to get up and leave while the movie was still good. In the end, the movie was OK, it was just like every other romance movie. We were not the only people who were somewhat underwhelmed with The Choice, the movie received a 6.2/10 according to IMDb, 8% according to Rotten Tomatoes, and 26% on Metacritic. Our Mustang rating for The Choice is 3.5 horseshoes out of five. Nevertheless, the movie has box office 6.1 million USD since it was released in early February. Though many critics believe that the movie was too stereotypical and did not meet expectations.“The Choice is almost repellently synthetic. Travis’s dog, Moby, however, should be given his own movie immediately” says Jeannette Catsoulis a writer for The New York Times. Bilge Ebiri a writer of Vulture states “But then, we get to “the choice” part of The Choice, and it all goes to hell.”. However, with everything being said, we think that it is only appropriate to give Nicholas Sparks some credit, for we all know, nothing will ever exceed The Notebook.
