“I don’t like the idea that I’m not in control of my life.” - Neo from The Matrix.
Co-Director of the Blockbuster icon, formerly known as Andy, is now Lilly Wachowski. “You know, when you’re living as an out transgender person, it’s … kind of difficult to hide. I just wanted – needed some time to get my head right, to feel comfortable. But apparently I don’t get to decide this.” Wachowski says. The last part of this statement is regarding a Daily Mail reported who pushed her into coming out, but whether Lilly came out by choice or not she just made huge progress in the film community.
The Daily Mail seems to think it is a conspiracy due to the fact that Lilly’s sister, Lana Wachowski, did the same thing four years ago. It may seem odd, but it was simply their decisions.
Though a recent Oscar nominee, The Danish Girl, highlighted a transgender love story, the filmmakers themselves are not as diverse. So, the fact that a director of such high esteem voiced her change is a really big step. She has seemed to follow words from her biggest production, “Don't think you are, know you are.” - Morpheus The Matrix
