Many people who come to or live in Utah love to ski. These are the three best ski resorts in Utah to check out and why they have become so popular. Maybe one of these resorts will become your next ski destination. Park City, Snowbird, and Snowbasin were ranked by multiple sources to become the top three. Now, what is so great about these resorts that attracts so many tourists?

1. Park City: Park City is the largest ski resort in the United States with 7,300 skiable acres. Within the resort there are more than 300 trials, 38 lifts, several terrain parks, 14 bowls, one super pipe, and one mini pipe. Park City is owned by Vail, as of 2014. Opening in 1963, the 52 year old resort hosts ski races for kids and adults and also have ski lessons for all ages. On the mountain there are thirteen food lodges and a lift that connects you to Main Street. At the lodges they serve are salads, soups, gourmet pizzas and sandwiches, flatbread pizzas, soups, burgers, and fries. Park City has recently added a Quicksilver Gondola that takes you from one side of the resort to the other.

2.Snowbird: A man named Richard D. Bass purchased snowbird with Ted Johnson in hopes to make their dream come true; owning a ski resort. In April 1970, they started the process in making what would soon become Utah’s second best ski resort. Snowbird saw its first season in December of 1971. A couple years later, Johnson decided to take a break and Richard D. Bass became a full owner of the ski resort. Snowbird was the number one ski resort in Utah until 2015, when Park City made a huge change to their resort. Snowbird is widely known for their tram that takes skiers from the bottom base, to the highest peak on the mountain. This is a great resort for any day, whether it’s sunny and warm, or the snow is up to your knees.

3.Snowbasin: This popular ski resort is ranked third in Utah because of it’s great service, wide bowls, and irresistible powder. Snowbasin is one of the oldest ski resorts in the nation, making this year it’s 75th anniversary. Dean Perkins, a ski legend, is the founder of Snowbasin and was the first person to hit the slopes in 1940. Snowbasin has diverse terrain offering trails from beginner to expert. Snowbasin has gotten many fabulous reviews about the service and how helpful the employees are. There are many wide bowls that have been become very famous for their “backcountry” like terrain. The average snowfall at snowbasin is 300” per year. This statistic has attracted many skiers and snowboarders to Snowbasin. The wide bowls, amount of powder, and skiable terrain for anyone has made Snowbasin the third best ski resort in Utah.
