“Silly rabbit, Trix are for kids.” General Mills, aka the cereal brand that makes Trix, have changed their mascot. To bring attention to the removal of artificial colors and flavors, the cereal has changed their “artificial” cartoon rabbit to a real rabbit. Say goodbye to the cartoon rabbit that we grew up with and loved. Now meet the new face of Trix… Cinnabun! He’s a two-pound cutie rabbit from Houston, Texas. Natalie Tran, his loving owner, “can’t believe he was chosen.” Cinnabun beat out over 7,500 rabbits for the title of Mascot. After he won, a limousine arrived to pick him up for his red carpet hop. According to Seventeen Magazine, he received “VIB”, or “Very Important Bunny” treatment.

Although this change seems harmless and inoffensive, it has created quite the outrage among consumers. “I feel like I’m eating bunnies if there is a real rabbit on the box,” says Jack T. He continues on to say “Bunnies are not to be eaten.” Izzy R. agrees and says “Looks like bunny food.” Lots of people found the cartoon box more appealing. “The cartoon box is more colorful and will be more attractive to little kids,” says Coco. Zoe H. has a strong opinion about the new mascot, “The new mascot is stupid.” Jack T even has speculations about the authenticity of the bunny “I think the real rabbit is actually fake” he says. Sixty-seven percent of Treasure Mountain Junior High students prefer the cartoon box over the real rabbit box.

Some, however, think this is a positive change. Addison was all for the real bunny commenting on how “more people are starting to realize what’s good for their bodies” and the real rabbit will probably increase sales. “It’s a really great change and the bunny is really cute.” Adi finishes. Most people who prefer the real rabbit box like it simply because the “bunny is super cute.” Hopefully, the removal of artificial colors and flavors, along with the new look will increase sales. Regardless of the opinions of others, many people do think that the removal of artificial flavors will improve sales. Needless to say, this rabbit’s life has been changed forever.
