Park City Water - Healthy or Harmful?

It's well-known that mining was the original industry of Park City, and has made the city a lot of money. However, it has created a lot of problems for us now. One of the biggest problems is the water: mining has left large deposits of minerals in our water, making it unsafe.
Some reports have shown that the water in Park City has quantities of toxic materials above the legal limit. These materials are toxic heavy metals like thallium that can damage the human body if consumed for a long period of time, including causing hair loss, damaged eyesight, headaches, and more. There is as much as 0.0035 mg/L of arsenic in the water, which can be very harmful to living creatures.
This needs to be addressed; some possible ways of solving the issue include better filtration, finding a new water source, or even installing new pipes. When the water flows through pipes, it leaves behind mineral deposits, but when the city brings water up to the ski resorts, it comes from a source with a lower pH, which loosens the minerals in the pipes. When the regular water is put back into the pipes, the minerals are picked up, creating dangerous water, and that's the water that people end up drinking. If new pipes are put in place and water is flowing constantly, there will be less mineral buildup, creating safer water.
It's also important for awareness about these dangers to be raised. Some ways of accomplishing this would include assemblies at schools to teach children and their parents about this, or through news programs - on television, in newspapers, or on internet blogs. For now, it's important for word to be spread by any means, so it would even help for people to personally tell their friends and family, and it's advisable for everyone to install filters in their own homes.
