Winter Shutting Down
The Wasatch Switching to Summer
There are only 32 school days left and summer is in the air. Most of us have already pulled our summer gear from the basement and stacked skis in their place, but some of the resorts are still open. Most of the resorts have closed already but Snowbird is still up and running. Below is a list of the closing date of the Wasatch resorts.
One TMJH student said, “Even though it is summer, I think it is still a good idea to go for the last few days at any resort as it will probably be the last day to ski until it reopens again in December.”
Alta- Closed on April 26th
Brighton-Closed on April 19th
Canyons- Closed April 12th
Deer Valley- Closed on April 12th
Park City- Closed April 19th
Snowbird-Expected to close in late May
Solitude- Closed on April 12th
“I love Snowbird. Every time I drive up the canyon to Snowbird I start getting excited about the fresh powder waiting for me, mountains looming overhead, and the tram criss crossing across the sky so I put on my skis on and zoom away.” Said active skier, Corrine.
Snowbird still has 4 lifts open including Arial Tram, Chickadee lift, Little Cloud lift, Mineral Basin Lift and still has a base depth of 77 inches. Baldy, Blackjack, Bookends, Cirque Traverse, Powder Paradise, and Road to Provo terrain is still open. Depending on snow conditions, there will still be skiing at Snowbird until late May.
“The last day at Alta was a blast, of course the skiing wasn’t the best this weekend but I heard it was great earlier in the week.” Another TMJH skier quoted about Alta.
Snowbird Tram Lift. N.d. Sandy, Utah, Snowbird Resort.
