Ideas Worth Sharing in Park City

TEDX is coming to Park City for the second annual event, Monday, May 11th. Any junior high or high school student with an idea worth sharing is welcome to audition for the TEDX Youth event. Auditions are at 3 PM to 5 PM on Thursday or Saturday noon to 2 PM. They will be held in the Park City High School Lecture Hall.

“TEDX is an event for youth to share their ideas with others without judgement from others.” Corrine says passionately.

To audition, you must prepare a performance or talk with focus on youth. The presentation must be 5 to 12 minutes long and it’s recommended to have a visual aid along with the talk. Your presentation can’t be political, religious or self-serving. The audition doesn’t have to be memorized. 12 to 20 students will be chosen from the audition to perform a memorized speech in front of an audience of about 300.

“Auditioning is always a frightening process, but the people were welcoming and not too judgmental. I am excited to see my results and to see if I am preforming.” Evan states about auditioning.

If you are interested in attending the event as an audience member, it will be on May 11th. There will be a youth event as well as a regular TEDX event. Other details, such as time and performances are yet to be determined.

“TEDX youth is a great opportunity to get involved, share your ideas and put yourself out there in a supportive environment.” Said TMJH student.
