The Dress That Broke the Internet

Blue and black? White and Gold? The “Dress That Broke the Internet” is becoming a world-wide debate. It was first shared on the 25th of February by a Tumblr user, and sparked a huge discussion about what color the dress really is.

Even celebrities such as Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian West were tweeting about the dress saying what they see. “I don’t understand this odd dress debate and I feel like it’s a trick somehow. I’m confused and scared. PS it’s OBVIOUSLY BLUE AND BLACK” - A tweet from Taylor Swift. “What color is that dress? I see white & gold. Kayne sees black & blue, who is color blind? - A tweet from Kim Kardashian West. “If that’s not White and Gold the universe is falling apart. Seriously what is happening???? - A tweet from Anna Kendrick.

This dress is an optical illusion, and some of our eyes are seeing different wavelengths of light. The human brain detects colors by it’s reflecting light, and that is the reason why this dress is being debated. The people who see the dress as gold and white are seeing other wavelengths of light, and they can change instantly. That is why some people can see both. The dress (in person) is blue and black.
