New Year's Resolutions: IT'S NOT TOO LATE

If you haven’t made a New Year’s Resolution yet, it’s NOT too late. Here are some ideas for late resolutions to start off your year:

  1. look up from your phone, you might be surprised at how much the world outside of your screen has to offer
  2. take TONS of pictures
  3. do something every day that scares you 
  4. read more
  5. eat healthier
  6. exercise daily
  7. work hard to improve in your sport/activity
  8. write something every day, whether it be a poem, story, or just a random thought
  9. smile at the good and accept the bad
  10. try new things, meet new people, make new friends
  11. if someone offers you a food you’ve never tried, take at least one bite
  12. listen to songs you don’t know all of the words to
  13. be someone you would like to be friends with
  14. surround yourself with people you make you happy
  15. set realistic goals for your grades and work to achieve them
  16. become less stressed
  17. be yourself, stop caring what others think
  18. do things that you love to do, but be open to new activities as well
  19. laugh more
  20. smile :)
  21. gossip less
  22. become better friends with someone you kind of know
  23. talk with people in person, not just texting and snapchatting 
  24. write letters (whether you’re going to give/send them or not, this is a great way to get rid of stress and annoying thoughts)
  25. keep in touch with faraway friends and family
  26. don’t just live for the weekend, that’s wasting 5 days of your life every week
  27. realistically ease yourself out of social media. you don’t have to delete yourself completely, but go days, even weeks, at a time barely looking at your Instagram and Facebook accounts.
  28. don’t procrastinate
  29. talk to your siblings/parents
  30. go outside, take walks, climb trees. enjoy nature.
  31. savor and enjoy the little things
  32. live in the moment
  33. keep pictures, poems, drawings, etc. in a box or book. once it’s in, don’t take it out until the end of the year.
  34. enjoy giving
  35. unexpectedly thank the people that make your life better
  36. drink tea
  37. eat a balanced diet
  38. accept yourself
  39. drink more water
  40. watch classic old movies
  41. extend your circle of friends
  42. wear things that make you happy
  43. make eye contact
  44. put yourself out there, you never know what might happen
  45. don’t assume that people don’t like you
  46. take good care of the earth
  47. save money for the future
  48. learn to play an instrument
  49. say what you mean
  50. don’t judge or discriminate
  51. take care of your teeth
  52. call a friend that you haven’t seen in awhile
  53. learn a new language, or at least start
  54. put an end to your obsessive relationship with candy (or other not-so-great-for-you foods)
  55. stop wasting your time playing meaningless games
  56. start a YouTube channel or a blog
  57. become worry free
  58. go to live concerts and sporting events
  59. introduce yourself first
  60. embrace other cultures
  61. travel more
  62. take a road trip with your friends
  63. have relaxing days where you just unwind
  64. remember that school is important and you’ll thank yourself later for enduring it
  65. stop complaining, remember how lucky you are
  66. break a bad habit
  67. get organized
  68. redo your room to be more YOU
  69. wear less makeup
  70. learn to cook
  71. stop overthinking
  72. befriend someone who you know is lonely
  73. befriend someone who you have wanted to befriend for awhile
  74. be someone that younger kids can (and should) look up to
  75. believe in yourself
  76. start taking vitamins
  77. grow your hair out/cut it short
  78. be positive
  79. have siblings/family dates
  80. dream big and then work towards it
  81. volunteer for a non-profit, become invested in the cause
  82. learn random interesting facts
  83. help out around the house
  84. improve in your worst subject
  85. be nice on the internet
  86. have crazy ideas and share them
  87. don’t ask “why,” ask “why not”
  88. stop worrying about followers/friends on social media
  89. listen to others
  90. give people the benefit of the doubt
  91. remember that celebrities are people too
  92. make a new playlist every week
  93. give someone that you don’t like a chance; hating someone affects you, not them 
  94. join a club/group that has the same interests as you
  95. decorate your room with little (or big) houseplants and succulents to bring it some life 
  96. watch less TV
  97. learn a new vocabulary word every day/week
  98. unplug, don’t stay up late on your phone
  99. become less forgetful
  100.  don’t make a resolution that you won’t follow through with. set realistic goals for yourself throughout the year based on what you want to accomplish.
