Mrs. Payne's Teacher Feature

Mrs. Payne’ s Teacher Feature

Andrea Payne is a math teacher at Treasure Mountain Junior High School. She is from Louisiana, and has been working at the school for ten years. Mrs. Payne also has a great sense of humor, describing that if she was on a train ride for twelve hours, she would bring a book and her back brace. But, she is also super kind, and definitely knows her math.

When asking Mrs. Payne about her life at home, she said that she has a part border collie, part Australian shepherd dog, who is named “Jack.” However, his full name is, “Captain Jack Sparrow.” Mrs. Payne said that one of the funniest things about him, is he is and older dog, but he refuses to acknowledge his age and limitations. However, her favorite characteristic about him is that he is always happy, and wants to be around people.

Mrs. Payne’s describes her childhood as fun and challenging. She had three sisters, and very nice parents. She describes her mom as very resilient and strong. Her mom grew up in the north, but married a southerner. Her mom didn’t like the south but she dealt with it because she loved her husband. Her dad, quote on quote, “Was very happy go lucky, and everyone’s friend. Everyone wanted to be around him.” She said her favorite characteristic about her dad was his magnetic personality. When talking about her sisters, she said they were fun, but it could be tough living with them. Especially, when it came down to sharing things, as one of her sisters would always steal her favorite clothes when she wanted to wear them. She described one of her sisters named Madeleine, as very courageous. Madeleine was a breast cancer survivor who faced a lot of adversity, had been divorced, and started quite a few new jobs in her life. Madeleine also had to be brave, because she was responsible for the rest of her sisters.

When it came down to school, Mrs. Payne’s favorite memory was when she got the highest score on her biology test in college. It was out of over three hundred people. She was so thrilled when they read her name off the top of the list. She said she studied so much, that she was glad that all that hard work had payed off.

Mrs. Payne truly loves her family. She described to me, that if she could only bring a couple things to a foreign country, she would bring her husband, children, and pictures. She said that that was all she really needed in this world. Mrs. Payne is very sweet, in her opinion, like a strawberry. If she was a fruit, she said she would be strawberries because they are not only just her favorite fruit, but they go with everything. (Sweet, savory, salty, etc.) As well as, strawberries are like how she gets along with people, as well as her personality. She gets along with everyone. Mrs. Payne also described that she is like a strawberry, because she can get dressed up fancy, like a chocolate covered strawberry on a silver platter. But, she can wear casual clothes, like a plain strawberry that’s delightful on its own.

Mrs. Payne is a really great teacher. I think that everyone should get to know her, not only as a teacher, but as a friend. She has a great personality, and most of all, she is very understanding, and happy.
