“This is a major basketball facility that will give us everything we need to be successful. It’s fantastic,” says Utah Athletics Director, Chris Hill. The two gyms will have many different hoops for the players to shoot at, with easy access to the locker rooms. Each player will have their own locker with shelves, and hooks for jerseys. Saunas will be in the locker room, and a weight room and a training room near the gyms and lockers.
“It’s not a facility that’s gonna keep us up with the Pac-12… I truly believe, and when you see the pictures and you see the finished product, it’s going to set the bar for the Pac-12,” said the Men’s Basketball Head Coach, Larry Krystkowiak. The film room will contain rows of chairs and a large screen for the players to watch videos of themselves, and other Pac-12 teams playing.
Will there be space for the coaches and helping staff? Yes, there will be meeting rooms, and offices for staff and coaching. There will be a balcony on top of the building with breathtaking views of the mountains, The University of Utah Campus, and Downtown Salt Lake City. The lounge rooms will include pool tables, fuse ball tables, couches, projectors with videos, and more. The addition will be named the “Jon M. and Karen Huntsman Basketball Practice Center”.
