Hong Kong Protests

For over 10 weeks democracy protesters in Hong Kong Have been occupying Harcourt Road. Then, Thursday at 9:45 police rounded up the last of the protesters and cleared out the road they had blocked with colorful tents and umbrella statues that have become a symbol of the protests. The leaders of the protests, Joshua Wong a college student who started the protest with other students.

The demonstrators were in the running for times person of the year until Wednesday, when it was announced that the doctors and nurses in West Africa. The police met little resistance going through the camp and only had to tear down the occasional barrier of wood, plastic or metal.

The protest drew tens of thousands of people  at the heigh of the protests, but by thursday it had dwindled to just a few hundred. The Chinese government, who control Hong Kong's government, choose to let Hong Kong's police deal with the protests on the ground instead of getting involved themselves.

The protesters who stayed to the end promise they will be back, and everyone is waiting to see how the civil disobedience will continue.
